How to Attract Customers with Sustainability
No matter your industry, a commitment to sustainability is important to your customers. According to the Nielsen Global Survey on Corporate Social Responsibility, fifty percent of consumers are willing to pay more for products and services from companies committed to social responsibility, a five percent increase from 2011.
There are many ways to demonstrate a greener, more socially responsible image. Here are a few simple tips to build customer relationships by leveraging your business’ commitment to sustainability.
- Help others give back.
Let others know what you have done to decrease your carbon footprint and what they can to reduce their impact on the environment. Post on your company social media pages or write a short blog about ways your customers can conserve water or energy.
- Show off your results.
Measure the energy or water savings your have realized through your sustainability efforts and share the results with your customers. You can even equate those savings to the equivalent number or trees planted or by how much they have reduced carbon emissions. Your customers care about how you’re giving back!
- Plan a green event.
Your customers won’t know about your commitment to social responsibility if you don’t tell them! A great way to spread the word is through a green launch party. The main objective of any green event is to demonstrate your business’ eco-friendly practices. Some ways to do that could be through a recycling education day, a bike to work day, etc. Tap into your passions; the sky is the limit!
