How did you end up with EES Consulting?

When I looked into different business opportunities, I wanted something that spoke to my desire to provide a good customer experience while creating a positive impact on society.  EES Consulting fit perfectly on all fronts.  The ability to customize a solution that improves a company’s bottom line, while at the same time reducing energy consumption and overall carbon footprint, is a total win-win for everyone.

What are two memories from your career that stick with you?

Throughout my career, I’ve always sought opportunities to bring key solutions to a customer, whether those solutions solved a problem, addressed a need, or reduced expenses.  It was particularly rewarding when a satisfied customer became an avid solution advocate, because it meant I had provided a positive experience that they were motivated to bring to other customers.  I’ve been very fortunate to have a number of these customer advocates throughout my career.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the energy efficiency industry?

The energy rebate claims sound too good to be true, and there is mistrust that the improvements will be as good as claimed.  As one person noted:  “if I were able to achieve all the savings promised by vendors, the utility company would be paying ME for my electricity usage.”  Its difficult for a business owner to separate out the best option for THEIR business from the all the vendor hype.  This is what makes EES  Consulting so special – we take a holistic approach to reducing energy consumption, whether its lighting, HVAC,  solar, refrigeration, waste management, water conservation, etc., and tailor a solution that’s best for each business. And we implement that solution within in the framework of minimal impact to business operation.

What do you like the most about your line of work?

I enjoy meeting people in so many different aspects of the Austin business community.  We are fortunate to work in an area that is so supportive of local and small businesses. This is one of things that appealed to me about EES Consulting – focus on providing solutions to Central Texas small businesses.

What makes EES Consulting unusual?

EES Consulting focuses on bringing the best solution to each individual customer, and providing a solution that has minimal impact on the owner’s business operation and personal time.  Finding the best solution for the type of business, applying for the energy rebates, managing the implementations, and even offering financing options, all from a single source, makes for a simple, effective, turn-key solution for business owners, leaving them to focus on managing their businesses.  And as an added bonus, leaving the planet a little greener in the process.
